Soft Launch – Björkesö Is Open for Bookings

The official debut: Well, this is getting real. Björkesö is now officially bookable on TripTo.se – and people are actually booking it! In fact, the first bookings came in within an hour of publication. I’m surprised, excited and, if I’m honest, just a little nervous. After all the planning, building, fixing and occasionally wondering what on earth we got ourselves into, it’s quite something to see our little place by the lake presented to the world. Here’s a screenshot of the listing. Björkesö has made it onto the internet as a holiday destination. Not quite international fame, but we’re getting there.

The chosen one: This is the photo they picked as the main picture. And I have to admit, they made a pretty good choice. It captures exactly the kind of place we’d like people to discover: peaceful, beautiful and just a little bit away from everything. They even managed to turn back the hands of time – and the seasons – transforming a lovely autumn picture into a summer scene. A kind of magic!

The one that didn’t make it: Every photo selection has its casualties. This one didn’t make the final cut. I can see why, of course. Still, I thought Maja deserved its moment in the spotlight – if only here.

The alternative reality: And then there are the photos that never quite happened. Two versions: the original and the photoshopped one. A little artistic licence that the TripTo.se team seem to possess never hurt anyone, did it? The terrace and pathways around the house are actually being finished right now and will be ready before our first guests arrive. And, if all goes according to plan, the real thing will look even better than the fake!

My personal favourite: And finally, the photo I still like best. It didn’t make it onto the TripTo.se page, but that’s photography for you. Apparently, being my favourite and being the best marketing picture are two entirely different things.

So there you have it. Björkesö is officially out there, the first bookings are coming in, and we’re slowly moving from building our own little place to sharing it with others. Exciting times! Now let’s just hope the guests like it as much as we do.
